Meet Lisa Lawrence
LOCAL ISLANDER WITH REAL ESTATE EXPERIENCE
If you're looking for local knowledge and experience, Lisa has it. When you arrive on the island for the first time and fall in love with the natural beauty and the quaint little town of Friday Harbor, many of you will want to explore the dream of living here. Lisa is a native islander, multi-generational on both sides of her family. After years of commercial salmon fishing and other odd jobs around the island, she settled on real estate as her livelihood in 1994.
It has turned out to be a blessing for her & her family in many ways. She was initially drawn to real estate sales with the hope that she would spend her days hiking around the island showing prospective customers property.
Of course there is much more to this business than looking at property. Lisa is a creative thinker and loves the negotiation process, working with other agents & people involved in the transaction as well as processing the paperwork. She successfully guides her clients to financing, inspection, land & building experts and enjoys the extensive research needed for each listing and sale. She has successfully closed many transactions & looks forward to the opportunity to work with you.
FAMILY - HISTORY
Lisa's husband, Jim, runs Thirsty Goose Farm, an organic farm where they raise lamb, tomatoes, apples and Friesian horses. They also raised two daughters here on the island and they are both off at college.
Lisa's dad, Charlie Nash, was born here on the island and was the Postmaster for many years. He was also a commercial salmon fisher here and in Alaska. Lisa's mom, Betty Chevalier Nash, was born here too and was raised on the outer islands of Waldron and Speiden. Betty's grandmothers were both of Native American decent, one from the Swinomish Tribe in LaConner, WA the other from a local, island tribe, the Mitchell Bay Tribe. Lisa's parents still live here on the island, as well as her three brothers & their families. The history of the islands and her family is very important to Lisa and she hopes to someday gather as many stories as she can and get them on paper.
PASSIONS - HOBBIES
Growing up on the island, riding her horse from hilltop to waters edge, Lisa really learned her way around the islands and developed a deep love for the natural beauty of the land and the surrounding waters. Trips to Waldron Island to stay with her grandparents in the summer gave her an understanding for the need for open space and quiet.
This love of open space led her to the San Juan County Land Bank where she is currently a board member. One may wonder, "why a real estate agent on the board of a land preservation group"? She sees first hand the development of the islands and the shrinking habitat, forest and open space. Land Preservation is critical to these islands and always will be in Lisa's eyes. Her other hobbies include horses, oil painting & writing.
